30-60-10 Donation Information

Starting January 1, 2010, GPI no longer sends out individual confirmations when groups send in donations. The following document (PDF file)* shows details on what each group within GPI has donated to GPI within the current year (broken down by quarter). It will be updated and posted here quarterly. If you don't see a donation made by your group, please contact the GPI Treasurer.

OA is self-supporting, declining outside contributions. OA suggests that each group donate its excess funds to OA's service bodies in the amounts below.

GPI Openings

There are currently two GPI Executive Board positions vacant (Vice-Chair and Treasurer), two Standing Committee Chairs vacant (Professional Outreach and Public Information), as well as openings for four Region 7 Representatives, two alternate Region 7 Representative, three WSO Delegates, and two Alternate WSO Delegates. For more information on the requirements and duties of any of these positions, please see the GPI Bylaws (click here). If you're interested in filling one of these positions, please contact your intergroup representative or any intergroup member. Remember, service helps us to keep what we have so generously been given.

  • First, here's information on the tool of service from the OA WSO Website:
  • Below are some suggestions to help carry the OA message of recovery to someone still suffering from an eating disorder:
    • Call a newcomer or someone else from OA and see how they're doing
    • Call someone you haven't seen at meetings in awhile, ask how they're doing, and let them know that you miss seeing them
    • If someone you know has trouble getting to meetings, offer to drive them
    • If there are no meetings in your area, start one. See http://www.oa.org/services-for-members/group-support.php#NewGroup for information and suggestions on starting a meeting.
    • Be a sponsor
    • Contact your intergroup or regional 12th Step Within committee to see what you can do to reach those still suffering within OA, or see http://www.oa.org/services-for-members/twelfth-step-within.php
    • Participate in the Service by Mail/Email program. This program, sponsored by OA WSO, helps OA members reach out to one another. Participating members correspond by mail or e-mail to share recovery and to discuss working OA's Twelve-Step program of recovery with other OA members around the world. You can find an OA pen pal or a sponsor by mail, or you can sponsor another member by mail.
    • Work with your local or regional Professional Outreach committee to sponsor meetings on eating disorder units
  • Below are some suggestions for giving service at the group level:
    • Sign up to chair your home group or another meeting
    • Does your home group have a secretary, treasurer, literature person, Lifeline representative, Intergroup representative, and newcomer greeter? If not, are you able to take on one of these positions?
    • Sign up for the speakers list. People on the speakers list may be contacted to give their story at an OA meeting or marathon.
    • See if your meeting would be able to sponsor a workshop on relapse and recovery
    • See if your meeting would be able to sponsor an OA event such as the OA birthday, Unity Day, IDEA Day, or 12th Step Within Day, or find our when your group was founded and help plan a special celebration for your group's anniversary.
    • Are there no meetings in your area? Start one. See http://www.oa.org/services-for-members/group-support.php#NewGroup for information and suggestions on starting a meeting.
  • Below are some suggestions on giving service to help spread the OA message to the general public and professionals who are likely to refer people to OA:
    • Talk to your healthcare providers (doctor, dentist, nutritionist, etc.) about OA
    • Talk to you clergy about OA
    • Donate old copies of Lifeline to your healthcare provider for their waiting room
    • Donate a subscription to Lifeline to your local library or school
    • Donate OA literature to your local library or school
    • Contact the church/synagogue/community center/etc. where you meeting is held to have your meeting time and location listed in their bulletins
    • Print copies of the following Public Information Cards, and post them on local community bulletin boards (for example, at the grocery store, church/synagogue/temple/mosque, coffee shop, community center)
